Wisdom

Is wisdom about pain?

That teeth that brings sore and swelling is annoucing its arrival but putting a discomfort at the corner of a dark cavity. Making entry of food less of a pleasure but more of a chore.

Is wisdom about denial?

Just sore and not really painful. Hopefully over in a couple of days.

Wait and see.

Hope it doesn't drive me to meet the tooth fairy I haven't seen for a long time. At least for an extraction.

Fingers are crossed.

Chisel and drills....A thought of a cavity under heavy construction is not a sign that I hope to see...Well, just wait and see.

The Escalator

I took a step towards an escalator. A step onward and it elevated. Slowly it did, closer to the 6th floor that I wanted to go.

Stepping another step, it was the next escalator. It took another six floors up.

12 storeys in all. Many people flashed by in all of the 12 storeys. Looking at each one faces, they had a story to tell.

Life is made of stories. Each has something difficult and different to relate, to tell. The 12 storeys escalator was in a shopping mall I chanced upon in Mongkok, Hongkong. It was an exceptional long ride, hence it was a very slow ride. So slow, that for once unlike in Singapore, I could look long and hard at everyone's expression.

I looked upward. Even I had a story to tell because it was difficult and different from everyone else.

Walking around, I came to a shop and so went in. It was a shop in a corner. There were wooden blocks everywhere. There was a calligrapher inside the shop.I took one wooden stick. She engraved a story.

A story that can only be worded on wood. DIfficult and different.

Exhaustion

Pastor just preached about the horse being killed.

And here I am down with flu, tonsilitis and a nose that runs like a tap.

Too many late nights in the lab. Had been getting loads of results from the experiments but overworking like this is no solution...

Think finally I am going to succumb to an MC tomorrow..much needed rest. Body definitely cranking. Thank God for this sickness. What a stark reminder....

I am human and of dust after all...

Day 2 - Hong Kong

Think I put up Day 2 also. Visited our peers in the HK lab in the morning, had lunch with them and had free time after that. Went with a few of my colleauges to Mongkok by MTR...the place is busting with activites street food, loads of clothings and DVDs..loads, my colleagues just dispersed and did their own endeavours. I just went wandering..taking wherever my nose leads ...haha

A snack store..sell Smelly Bean Curd..did try when my colleague bought a packet..a tiny bit..the smell is not that bad but the tast is crispy and crunchy and a bit sour...Can live without it but the taste is ok...

Giant Squid Tentancles. Deep fried. Thankfully. Taste great....An outer crisp and a soft inside...nice

A coffee break before another long walk...

Memoirs from HK - Day 1

Ok, finally found that little bit of time to put up some pics. Pardon for some blurry pics coz I dropped my handphone in the toilet, after that the phone could not focus well...but I think from an artistic point of view, you get the picture...Pic are arranged hopefully in chronological order.

Selected pics only...haha

A pic of the A380, flight was delayed coz of the Asian Aerospace...flight took off one hour later than scheduled.

First meal in Hong Kong. Wan Ton noodles. The wan ton is worth its weight, much bigger than the ones in Singapore and the prawns are succulent, fresh and juicy. What more could you ask for your first meal in Hong Kong.

Took a stroll by the habour after dinner. Scintilling neon lights...Beautiful. The clock tower is the remnant of the old train station.

Thats all for Day one..will post more for Day 2 and beyond...coming soon. Took loads of pics of the food...cross your fingers :P

1ST Post in MARCH!

Hmm, working late again in the lab. Just touched down from the airport yesterday.

Even in Hong Kong, so many things happen.

Hard to pen but Thank God, that indeed all things work for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Well the pictures are not up yet. Took a look at them, some are a bit blurry coz I dropped my hp in the toilet. Sigh, guess it took the focus out. Hong Kong though is beautiful. The food is absolutely fabulous. Will post it up soon.

Had a attack of back soreness again. Shouldn't put again coz it was 2 years since I last had it. Wonder how it happened but it did. Was in class on tuesday, felt numbness in the leg and the next thing I knew, while getting up, I didn't feel good. By evening, things got worse. Told one of my colleague and she was gracious to get me painkillers and heat pad to relax my back muscle. Gave me some medication as well but it didn't work too well. Dinner came in the form of packet food. That was a tremendous heart-breaker. My colleagues all went out for dinner. They didn't told me what they ate when they came back. That's good coz it would indeed be a nail right through the stomach...

By Wednesday, it hurt badly and I couldn't walk upright. Somehow things like this can be in a way annoying, yet considering a lot things in perspective, it is just trivial annoyance. Commit to the Lord this pain and just ask for healing. Had to rush up during every break time during lesson back to the hotel room to rest. Every 10 min of rest on my back was like comfort never experienced before :p . Simple things like this could mean so much at moments like this. That evening the pain was very bad. I told my colleague that I remembered a medication that helped the last time..it is an ointment. She put on her sports shoes and rush to get it. Thank God for my colleague.

The amazing thing is this, once she got the ointment, my room mate applied it on my back. No sooner I applied the ointment on my back, one hour later, my back pain subsided to the point that I could get up and suggest why not have dinner outside instead? The night before my room mate got dinner for, alas being 9pm. Kind of starved.

Thank God, the healing came so fast. Almost felt like an annoiting of oil...Haha.. Too far fetched. The ointment that is.

That was the last time it hurt. Though it felt sore. Thursday morning came and I felt ok. The strain was there but I felt fine. Just amazing how things turned out. God just felt so real. That thursday night quiet time was superb.

The habour view in Hong Kong was superb as well. Spend Friday morning having my quiet time and had "yam cha" with 2 of my colleagues while the rest went to visit the HK police department forensic facilities. I went on Monday already so I was left kinda of alone. Decided to stroll down the habour. A gale of wind was blowing. Temperature was around 16C. Was at the habour at night on Monday as well. The view was scintillating beautiful. I promised I will post the pictures up. They are GORGEOUS.

Anyway, with the beautiful view, a quietness of heart, a look around the horizon, tall buildings, old ferries, high green mountain, time to pen a song. Did just that. Just completed the chords this morning. Beautiful song :) Memories to keep.

A week passed by so fast. God indeed has been wonderful. There are much things I reflected this week. It was a good week of rest away from hustle of routine things back home. So I am very glad that this week indeed was precious.

Thank God.
