Hmm...nothing..

Nothing close to the heart.

Same thoughts.

I passed!

Got back my examination results today. The audit course I took in KL. Seemingly I was upset that I misread a question and answered it wrongly yet in spite of this, I was told that I passed. A 15% question and the passing mark was 70.

Thank God really. I was prepared to fail and retake. Thank God. Whatever circumstances of life turns out to be, giving thanks to God always, for this is the will of Christ Jesus for you.

Life challenges are opportunities to glorify God.

A perfect and uneventful life cannot glorify God. Adversity, the greater it is and with you life that reflect you yet and still steadfast belief in God can only show God is your rock, your foundation, your first love.

What a turnaround. Yet in everything, I will rejoice in my Lord.

This is life. This is my God.

The Best Char Siew On Planet Earth

Amazing isn't it...Never tasted Char Siew so good.

Roasted with a layer of inviting crust and laced with the correct amount of charred skin, the crunchy outer layer giving way to the inviting soft interior that is saturated with the honey flavoured meat. The dark sauce coating the meat is perfect, not only that it melts in your mouth, the sauce sticks in your memory and makes your heart faint in delight.

Haha. Unbelievable taste. Simply impossible to describe.

THE BEST CHAR SIEW ON PLANET EARTH. Please do not click on the picture. Enlarge at your own PERIL!!!

Greenpeace would be green with envy and agree greens are meant to be dine on, and not protected.

This dou fu is also very nice. Sauce and dou fu is indistinguisable in its intoxicating taste, that is. Simply a great mouth resident.

This used to be a whole chicken cooked with chinese herbs. The point being, it used to be a whole chicken. Wonder how fossils came about?

And there can only be one outcome. Ground zero on the dining table. Especially with Jocelyn, Patricia (Alicia's Sis), Alicia, Jon Tan and Justin. Thank God for a most wonderful time together.

A sudden tinkle

There was a guitar strum I did on a new tune. I dunno why a tinkle, a metallic ting was heard just at the point where the chorus start. It was suppose to be a pure guitar song, after all I was just recording a tune. But that "ting" sound somehow got into the recording.

It sounded very refreshing. Sounded very alerting. Sounded with blend and delight.

Somehow I think that is how God works. God use Timothy to encourage Paul and so did God use Paul to encourage Timothy. God use Barnabas to encourage Paul as well. There are other examples. Just as the timely declaration of Christ to John the Baptist brought comfort before He was beheaded. In fact the Paul records for us in 2 Cor 7:6, Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,", God recalls men to do His work of comfort.

In fact, at the right moment, at the right time, God intervenes to bring about that comfort. I do believe instance of such comfort and the relating it back to God, brings about a deep affirmation that God cares and know when and what best for the person.

Recall many incidents that God has brought this about not only in my life but also in the lives of others tell me one thing. God is so real, so concerned, so in touch with humanity.

I delight to know this and I hope you too will also delight to know this.

Poems

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach
with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand.
One belonged to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of his life,
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.:
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you the most
you would leave me."

The Lord replied,
"My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then I carried you."

SOME PEOPLE

Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

Some people come into our lives
and quickly go... Some stay for awhile
and embrace our silent dreams.

They help us become aware
of the delicate winds of hope...
and we discover within every human spirit
there are wings yearning to fly.

They help our hearts to see that
the only stairway to the stars
is woven with dreams...
and we find ourselves
unafraid to reach high.

They celebrate the true essence
of who we are...
and have faith in all
that we may become.

Some people awaken us
to new and deeper realizations...
for we gain insight
from the passing whisper of their wisdom

Throughout our lives we are sent
precious souls...
meant to share our journey
however brief or lasting their stay
they remind us why we are here.

To learn... to teach... to nurture... to love

Some people come into our lives
to cast a steady light
upon our path and guide our every step
their shining belief in us
helps us to believe in ourselves.

Some people come into our
lives to teach us about love...
The love that rests within ourselves.

Let us reach out to others
and feel the bliss of giving
for love is far richer in action
that it ever is in words.

Some people come into our lives
and they move our souls to sing
and make our spirits dance.

They help us to see that everything on earth
is part of the incredibility of life...
and that it is always there
for us to take of its joy.

Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

Why Gripe?

Luke 17:5-10

5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you. 7 And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? 8 But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.[c] 10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’”

It is bad to gripe. Resentment never brings contentment. Jesus is above all earthly kings and masters. He is indefinitely has more worth. More so, as we think, our service to God is all the more deserving and expected even it is unpayable indefintely.

A sense of unworthiness. A sense of greatness of God. And a sense of expected thankfulness.

The journey before a heart can be an offering to God like Mary in John 12:3, "3Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume." Judas seemingly righteous wanted the perfume be sold that it might be given to the poor but Christ said, "8You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."

Devotion to Christ is righteousness. Devotion to God is proper. Devotion to God is honourable.

I hope through prayer that when we become a child of God, we will know that God is our all. Regardness how life turns out to be, we are really as Moses said of his firstborn Gershom meaning "I am alien in a strange land" when he was in Midian.

The entrappment of our desire for the things of the world is strong and pretentous and unless God weed it out of us, we will be unable to love Him. How foolish to think that temporal lasts with an eternal God, while eternity rejoices over our continual presence with God.

There is a new heaven and a new earth to come when all is destroyed and changed. There is a new life when we trust Christ. The old is gone.

Make me a stranger on earth dear Lord, till I see my heavenly home. A home that lasts.

What a Saviour!? I can only thank and not gripe for You have given your all already.

Must God do anymore to affirm His love? Grace is already given.

A disguise of grace

Hmm...expository preaching. Preaching that is in context.
Seems like it has been abused.

I realise there is a danger when you come to a text with pre-formed supposition, even though your intent wasn't to inteprete wrongly, a subtle desire for it to mean what you think it is wrong.

I realise the importance is to strip yourself of any pre-formed thoughts and come clean to what the text is saying allows one to clearly grasp the text for its intent.

Have heard a few messages for the past month which I realise while on the surface seemingly is alright, but upon discernment and thinking through, realise the fine line between understanding scriptures and misunderstanding can be so close yet the resulting gulf is so dangerously wide.

Contextual intepretation and understanding of the bible is strict. It is a skill that needs discipline yet it is the most slippery of all. Coz our well-intented desire to study scriptures has always a disposition to desire to support what we want it to say.

This is the first line of discernment or in greek root word aesthetic...personal taste for truth has no personality except submission.

What a revelation of the subtly of precise homiletics...

2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Paul exhorted Timothy to develop this skill set. Be rightly dividing. The mandate comes from a desire to be approved by God. What a high order but the greatest honour - being approved by God. Be careful. I have to remind myself as well.

Scriptures has authority. Complete authority.

The first drop of rain

Parched. Dry. Desolute.

Imagine a desert. No sight of any rain. No sight of any moisture. The sun high and beating its ray down unrelentless.

None of us perhaps can imagine that to its fullest extent except you walked through the desert. No rest from comfort.

One quote I read this week from John Owen, "Be killing sin or sin will kill you." I felt this quote very very insightful. Very needful.

For weeks now, I have been thinking, what is the singlest most common struggle we all face? Holy living - yes. But I feel the most definitive description really is not holy living. Neither faithless living or hopeless living. Paul says in the book of Corinthians, in constrast to faith love and hope, he says the greatest of these is love. Jesus says it aptly in Matthew 22 that Loving God and loving your neighbour is the whole summation of the law.

So love is the highest, most noblest motivation. But it is the love of God that sets a man apart. Paul made a plead in Romans 12:1 by saying, "I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God.." The mercies of God. What caused God to have mercy? I believe it is love. God's attribute of love. God has the greatest and perfect dignity. The prodigal son's father raise up his robe to run to his son. To embrace him. The perfect dignified high standing father, embraced by society, embraced with status would not assume his reputation except his zeal and love for his son.

Somehow, I felt when I read Philippians this week, God has revealed afresh and anew, the heart of Paul again. He prayed that love abounding in the Philippians. I realise that Paul really pray the prayer of our Saviour to our Heavenly Father where in John 17, Jesus prayed that believers may know the love between the Father and the son. If God is the most dignified being in the universe, that expressed love of God towards us, is the highest and most deserving that we love God, we love Jesus, we love Him with all our heart soul and strength.

Isn't the lack of love for God, the most obnoxious and revolting sin? Thanklessness that is. Romans 1 made is so clear. I can understand now why in not loving Christ, it is the most obnovious sin.

The taste of mercy drops. Moses has been called a man of faith and he lived a life forsaking the riches of Eygpt in exchange for the promises of God. God is love and he demonstrate it by forsaking His son. We have the Saviour but what would we exchange to affirm our love for Christ?

Paul pray that the love of the Philippians will abound more and more in real knowledge and discernment. Love God comes with knowing God. The singular authority that affirms and reveals God is the word of God. Our knowledge of God is regulated by Scriptures. It has to be. Love is not a emotive expression or adultery would be right. Love is divine for God is the author and is love. Knowledge, discernment and love comes hand in hand. Knowledge without love puffs up and love without knowledge will lead to sin and lostness. Paul says that His own people, the Jews have zeal but without knowledge. They may say they love God but without the way through Christ, zealousness doesn't do anything.

Lets build our love towards Christ and that all man may know the love of God is in our actions and our relationship with one another.

We are desperately in need to know this. To love Christ.

Only then with every drop of rain in our parched soul that we taste the sweetness of a fountain that flows from Emmanuel's vein. The love of Christ so rich and free.

How matchless worth is my Saviour? A resolved heart must come with a conviction of Christ's love. How would I live my life? That love may abound more and more. This is essential, the most essential towards a Godward life.

Thank God.

Interesting

Today is the exam date. 70% to pass. Spend mid-night oil on studying and feeling so tired during the paper.

Bad mistake. Misread one question. Answer not the way question wanted. 10 marks gone. Alas, that was a giveaway question really.

Collected my mishap and then again, smile again. It is always so natural to react to situation like and start thinking, what if I fail..blar blar..and it goes on.

Collected back, these are minor issues. Well, lesson learnt. Dun sleep late before exams.

Life has blips. We need to identify these. Sometimes we dun weigh every event of life and react rightly. Our natural self has a personality but that has to be subjected to transformation. This is not an easy part. Yet it is not the self-reflection of that personality that is important. Too much introspection result in self-awareness and result in self-burdensome.

The proper way I see from the bible is to reflect on the mirror of scriptures. Reaction to scriptures is far more important that self-examination itself. Not that it is not necessary to have self-examination. Paul prescribed its importance in 2 Cor 13:5 but he compared to ask whether you are in the faith. You see faith comes by hearing. It must be regulated examination. An examination of self against scriptures.

Our goal is more like Christ not more not ourselves. Paul, Peter, John has their own personalities. That is a fact. But they have one common goal, be like Christ. And in fact they are coz they know Christ. The pursuit of Christ should over-ride our desire of just self-examination but transforming to Christ. A mirror does nothing except reflection but the desire of glorifying Christ does its work in having a worshipper of Christ.

Blips they are. My Lord is in control of all things. Well life has blips. A thankful heart I say is right spirit towards Christ who gave me life. Blips or no blips, life is good because I have Christ as my Lord.
