Euro 2008

Spain has won...poetic justice...

At least some order of this world is resumed..

Haha. Kudos to Fernando Torres. For once, the better and stronger team won. Consistency prevails. Spain won the ultimate prize. Jubilation all around with that trophy in hand. Great joy.

I can see why Paul says for all Christian, we are to press on, to pursue the upward high calling of our Lord Jesus Christ, to run the race with patience. Scenes of jubilation as each player hug and kiss one another, peck at the trophy. What a sight, what elation.

That however is no where in comparison, in comparision to the trophy of meeting our Lord.

Who says supporting football is crazy? It teaches you spiritual things also...Haha.

As a Liverpudian, "you never walk alone" With Christ in the boat of faith, in the life of struggles, I too will never walk alone, and strive for the elation of the prized trophy of finally unveiled in the fullness of the presence of my Lord, Jesus.

He restoreth the Soul

Pslam 19:7-8

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;

Oh how precious the bible is to the soul. It converts the soul.
Oh how steadfast the bible brings, becuase it is the sure word of God. It is God saying I am sure what I say is true, it is unmistakably mine. God says scirpture is sufficient. It need no defense, it needs to be declared. Becoz it gives the wisdom of God. And God says so. Therefore my faith is sure.

The statutes of the LORD are right coz it in obedience it brings joy.
The comamndment of the Lord is pure because blessed are those who are pure for they shall see God. Because only God is pure and His word are from His pure, unblemish character and personna of Himself. For then, in our sinfulness, we shall see the Lord and utter need of the Lord for our righteousness.

Reading all these, it restores the soul. Coz in the Word, that I found the Lord.

Thank the Lord for His word. Indeed it restores by the rejoice of the soul.

For I shall dwell in His presence forevermore.

A Quiet Moment

Sat behind my office laptop. There are work to be done. Loads. No doubt.

But didn't move much an inch to try to finish them. It is already 640pm.
Just some penny of thoughts.

Must clear them. No doubt aboout that. Have to clear them one step at a time.
Pen down some thoughts, some prayers, some encouragements.

Everyday, times like this, you made some wishes. Ask the Lord for peace of mind.

I asked the Lord for some answers for some things. Glad that certain areas are moving, finally. More glad than ever. Yesterday had really a great time of prayer with a brother.

We move through life by kneeling. And I thank God for that...

The Word of God

Psalm 119:9-16

9 How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
10 With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O LORD!
Teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I have declared
All the judgments of Your mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
16 I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.

Today had a interesting conversation with Bro Boon Tiong. I think that is how his name is spelt. In fact the reality of meeting some one who shares the same passion as the Word of God, in understanding the Word and letting its effectual message speak for itself is so refreshing. Bro Boon Tiong had been long exposed to expository teaching of scriptures by Pastor John MacArthur. So had I for more than 10 years now. Having that conversation is rejunvenating.

Today, I ponder some thoughts after hearing a sermon on the word of God. One of the things that was mentioned is keep the pure gospel and let it loose wherever you go. Coz the gospel is the power. Paul said the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Delightful thought to know that. Purity of gospel equates itself to the power of God.

Joshua Chapter 1 mentioned that in verse 8, "8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. " It is tremendous a committment Joshua made. A committment towards knowing God and having a blessedness in God. Somehow this day has placed my eyes again on the need to abide in Christ by abiding in Scriptures. No matter how though the going is, I know one thing that no Christian must neglect is the Word of God. Coz it is food for the child of God. It is the pure milk, the sincere milk of God. May it never, never depart for our diet of growth.

The departure from our mouth will bring dryness and parchness. The consumption of it brings great joy and fulfilment. I pray I will remember the day and night mediatation of it. For all a day is the day and night, the in and out of seasons, and all of life in what Solomon says at the end of his life, "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." (Ecc 12:13)

Let us continue to grow in the Lord by hearing the counsel of our Redeemer. His wisdom shall be our meditation. Amen.

Bak Zhang

Chinese traditions - Duan Wu Jie.

This year, my mum decided to Bao Bak Zhang. Occassionally she rested. This year she decided to be diligent and made quite a bit. Perhaps it is because my dad helps out.

The taste is a bit different. Think my mum is trying to be healthy. Less salty the liao. But nevertheless, it taste good.

This annual affair is nevertheless a nice rememberance of Chinese Traditions.

Thank God my family still observe all these. Next would be Tang Yuan. Waiting.

But it does reminds that seasons and days are passing by faster and faster.
Furiously, time does go by. Nevertheless, it is a season of appreciating times that have gone by.

Here is a time capture of this year BAK ZHANG :)

Memoirs from Camp

There are always things to ponder. Things to consider.
Issues of life will come and go.
Perspective will change.
Reading blogs and writing blogs
Hearing stories of happenings of others.

We are all growing and learning. Watching days go by. Lives go by. I think I have grown the wiser but nevertheless, mistakes are still made.

This year camp was special. In a sense I stayed for almost the whole, saved for the couple of hours I had to stay behind in Singapore to clear my work before I could embark on my journey to KL.

For years, I have always believed God has a calling for me to do something. Honestly till today, I have yet to be sure what it is. But I have learnt to cast that aside for now and live out my Christian life. It is silly to keep thinking that and neglect the present. As such, I found it necessary to remind myself to obey what God has to say in His Word and live out the present for Him. And meanwhile, build you Christian Character. EVERYTHING is life is beyond your control except your Christian Character. You could build your character by reading the Word and praying. You could build a passion for Christ by sharing the gospel. You could understand God ways by prayer.

I find that the most necessary a Christian must cultivate. The living Christ communes with us by daily fellowship in prayer and the Word. There is nothing mystical in experience. There is only a knowledge of presence when these are fulifil. Not emotions, not feeling per se. But the still small voice of God in His Word that speaks plainly and surely.

Your heart that is tuned to God speaks conviction and power. That Character you build in God will be shaped by God. It is completed by God with the needed craft and scupture. Trials may complete it but nevertheless the measure of faith is the gift of God.

I came to Church camp this and was reminded again of reality truth. There is nothing new to the Christian faith.

But the recurring thing I learn is what Paul says in 2 Cor 4:16, "Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day"

I am in way encouraged by the decisions that were made by many brethren. Yet I learn that what is really the most important is not a zap of passion or zeal but a coronory life of consistent pursuit of God. To realise that a righteous falls seven times yet he could rise again.

2 Cor 4:16 says we do NOT lose heart. Because of this reality. What is our constant heart condition? What should be the constant knowledge?

With our God, lo He says, He will be with us till the ends of our lives. His presence goes with us, and before us. The life of God must breathe life into the life of man. It is building a stamina of an althelete. It is building the endurance of a slave. It is striving the upward clal of God to see His faithfulness and remaining faithful.

Having a life of Christ is living the life of Christ. Christ grew up for 30 years and the bible says He grew with stature with God and men. He learnt. He grew.

What I wan to say is this,

The life of Christ is not merely a decision. Though good.
The life of Christ is not merely a prayer. Though good.
It is never just an emotion. A response. It is a life of God in the the life of you. It is knowing your surroundings, your struggles and your reasoning to believe then in this, that God sees everything fit for us to go through all these. And in all these, choose to glorify Him. In that which is matter is that your heart is tuned towards God and not self.

Living the life of constant reminder to do something for God can result in self-awareness and approval from men. It is different when ones sees the Giver, God gave Himself in Christ that we began ot live for the Giver. Because if the love Giver is Christ, and Christ has given Himself. Whatmore do we need then to know the gift of eternal life is Christ Himself that lives in us. In that bcause of this living, to live is Christ.

My friends, it is more necessary to keep tuning our heart to do the work for God instead of seeking my experience with God. My power to serve God. My spirit filling to see God work.

It is then we must accept the expections of battle. Life will become ugly. People will disappoint. Tune your expectations.

Life is not easy. But with Christ in the vessel of our lives, I hope each one of us build the love towards Christ. And when we pray or ask, we know that it is more necessary to see Christ then to seek Christ. To adore Him is better than to adorn Him by our deeds. When adoration comes, the deeds would be for the love of God and to the glory of God.

So build a inner man of growth. Because the work of Christ works. So we have hope.
